ONTARIO GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY Ontario Cemetery Ancestor Index and Cemetery Locator Welcome to the Ontario Genealogical Society Cemetery Collection, which includes a Personal Name Index to transcriptions and a Cemetery Locator. This project is the result of the dedicated work of volunteers from OGS members and other Ontario historical groups. The Ontario Cemetery Ancestor Index includes names taken from transcriptions of the monumental inscriptions, cemetery records, and other sources that have been identified by various groups. Please note: Although most cemeteries in Ontario have been transcribed, not all cemetery indexes are included in this database at this time. New indexes will be added as they become available. Please check the County Table for a current list of Ontario Counties included in the Cemetery Ancestor Index. The Ontario Cemetery Locator is a directory to cemeteries in Ontario and may be used to locate cemetery transcriptions in pamphlet, book or microform format. Transcriptions do not exist for all cemeteries; however volunteers have endeavoured to identify all existing, non-existent and abandoned cemeteries. Where available, transcriptions may be viewed at the OGS Provincial Library in the Canadiana Room at the North York Central Branch of the Toronto Public Library. Please use the new Cemetery Catalogue to limit your search to transcriptions held at the library. Transcriptions may also be purchased from the local branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society.
